The Apostle Peter asked Jesus, “How many times should we forgive someone? As many as seven?” I don’t know how that sounds to you, but seven is sounds at a least like and adequate try, if not a lot, but Jesus’s response was much larger. Try seventy-seven or some translations render the text as seventy times seven. Wow!

Jesus then goes on to share a kingdom of heaven parable about forgiveness. This parable we could take as prescriptive, meaning that it is instructive of how we should be generous in our forgiveness.

However, the parable becomes also descriptive the moment Jesus says, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like…” With those words he launches into a story that describes the gracious character of God. We get a glimpse into how extravagant God can be in forgiving. And, most importantly we come to realize just how serious God takes our forgiveness of others. God expects us to pass along the grace we have been given.

In this sermon, you’ll learn just how incredible God’s grace is and hopefully walk away with a renewed desire to pay it forward, not out of grudging obligation, but rather a heart moved with compassion and gratitude.

Blessings as you listen today.
