Title: “Hearing God’s Word with Understanding
Text: Nehemiah 8:1-3,5-6,8-10

The word of God is like a family album of the people of God. There are good snapshots and bad snapshots.  In today’s passage, the people of Israel stood on the threshold of a new beginning. They had been in exile.  They returned home and rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem.  Upon completion of the walls, the people celebrated by worshipping God. Ezra read from the law from morning to afternoon, possibly five to six hours.  The people were moved to great repentance.  In this sermon, Rev. John Arnold explore why the word of God had this impact upon Gods people and what the implications are for us as believers.
