Remembering the least of these – those who are hungry, thirsty, in need of clothing or companionship – does not have to be complicated. It’s also the most fundamental expression of loving our neighbor as ourselves.
Today’s sermon is a simple reminder that we too are the least of these. When Jesus calls us to enter into people’s lives to aid them, he is only asking us to pass on what he has already done for us.
Jesus finds us:
- hungry and gives us the bread of life
- thirsty and he gives us living water
- all but naked in our own righteousness that is nothing more than rags in God’s eyes and yet, he clothes us in righteousness.
- imprisoned by sin and he breaks those chains and free us
Praise be to God and this thanksgiving may we count our blessings and pass them on to others.
