We’ll be looking at two texts in today’s sermon. The first is the story of Elijah hearing the still small voice of God and the second is Psalm 99. From these two passages we’ll discover three different points of contact that can evoke a sense of God’s presence.

Specifically, we’ll be exploring how certain, places, times, and people can serve as powerful reminders or triggers for recalling God’s activity in our life. In so doing, we can reconnect and feel afresh God’s comforting presence.

This message is especially important for anyone feeling overwhelmed. Elijah had seemed to be on top of the world one moment and then in the deepest valley the next. Prior to today’s reading, Elijah had gone into a head-to-head challenge with 400 prophets of Baal and 450 prophets of Asherah. He came out victorious.

However, his victory provoked Jezeebel to want to kill him. Elijah fled for his life and God directed him to return to the mountain upon which God had given Moses the Law. On that sacred mountain Elijah found himself feeling dejected, fearful, and alone. But, the Lord was with him and spoke to him in a powerful.

If you are feeling like Elijah listen to today’s sermon and discover three ways you might hear the still small voice of God that directed Elijah.
