On the first Sunday of Advent we light a candle during worship that is known as the prophet’s candle. This candle reminds us of promises that God has made in the past and fulfilled. We can take assurance in God’s prior faithfulness to promises as we await the fulfillment of the promise that Jesus will come again.
In this sermon, Rev. Arnold explores what it means to live between God’s promises and the fulfillment of those promise. He shares how we are to wait faithfully. This is an important lesson because as you will see in the sermon text, Matthew 24:36-44, tragedy befalls those who are not vigilant.
