Four Gospels Overview Cheat Sheets
The four gospels contain the heart of what we know about Jesus. Each one gives unique perspective. Understanding some basic difference will help you read and understand the gospels better.
In this video from our September Potluck Dinner, Rev. John Arnold explains how that the term gospel was actually in use before the writing of what we know as the gospels. Knowing what a gospel originally was would have profoundly shaped how the first readers would have experienced reading them and can shape your reading today.
You’ll also learn in the video about the ‘four source’ theory of how the gospels came into being. For example, did you know that many bible scholars believe that the gospels of Luke and Matthew likely had a common written document about Jesus that they drew from to write portions of their gospels?
To further help you understand the gospels, Rev. John has put together a cheat from his personal notes about each gospel. Each cheat sheet contains basic information about the author, purpose, and suspected dating of each gospel. Plus, John shares keywords or themes to watch for while reading.
Lastly, John also shared an easy-to-follow reading checklist for reading through all four gospels in just forty days. Use the links below to download your free copy of the Gospel reading cheat sheets and 40 day daily bible reading schedule. Just think…40 days from now you could have read all four gospels.
